Cordelia is serving as a member of the NCCC FEMA Corps team Hickory 6 at the Vinton Campus. She chose to participate in AmeriCorps NCCC FEMA Corps because she wanted to gain “real world” experience before returning to graduate school and she felt that this program would provide her with that opportunity.

Throughout the girls basketball games in Independence on Friday night, the members of the Vinton-Shellsburg and Independence pep bands sat on opposite sides of the court, cheering loudly at times and chanting their school names.
But for a while, the musical opponents stood together, playing each other's fight songs, a variety of other popular music and the Star Spangled Banner.

Chris is serving as a member of the NCCC FEMA Corps team Spruce 3 at the Vinton Campus. Prior to serving he was an AmeriCorps National member with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Newburgh. He chose to participate in NCCC FEMA Corps because he felt like it was a great way to continue to give back while also getting to travel and explore a new part of the United States.

Five students from the Vinton-Shellsburg High School Band were selected for participation in the Northeast Iowa Bandmasters’ Association Honor Band on Saturday, December 1, 2012. These students performed in one of two 124 piece, select ensembles made up of instrumentalists from sixty schools in Northeast Iowa.
The students rehearsed all day on Saturday and presented a concert at the Oelwein High School Gymnasium.

ATLANTA – Duane Fisher, retired agricultural educator from Vinton-ShellsburgHigh Schoolin Vinton, Iowa, is one of only six individuals nationwide who received the National Association of Agricultural Educators Lifetime Achievement Award on November 30 at the NAAE annual convention in Atlanta.
Fisher taught agriculture at Vinton-ShellsburgHigh Schoolfor 37 years before retiring in 2010.

Abigail is serving as a member of the NCCC FEMA Corps team Spruce 5 at the Vinton Campus. After college she considered joining the Peace Corps but didn’t want to leave home for two years. She learned about AmeriCorps NCCC from some friends who worked with AmeriCorps VISTA and decided that NCCC FEMA Corps would be the perfect program for her.

Alex is serving as a member of the NCCC FEMA Corps team Hickory 7 at the Vinton Campus. He chose to participate in AmeriCorps NCCC FEMA Corps because he wanted to take some time to give back to the community before attending college.
Alex graduated from Nonnewuag High School in June 2012 and plans to attend college after his service term ends.
